So, I’m not big on plastering some fake image of myself all over my website or social media. I tried it before and it didn’t work. It just felt… well, fake and depressing to constantly try to be someone else!
And, really, it was the fear of not being accepted. A fear that seems to pervade the space of so many people…
The more people I’ve coached, the more I’ve had to question – why not just be ME?! People can just take it or leave it, quite frankly. THAT is much more authentic to me. Even as a kid I was more interested in standing up for what mattered than being accepted…
As an adult, starting a business, I seemed to forget that for a period of time. Mostly because I listened to others tell me how I was meant to run my business, and what to write about, and how people needed to see me in a certain way. And as I result I hated my business.
I get that a lot of people need to brand their message in a specific way. And that’s fine. I’m just not that person. I don’t want to be. I don’t want to run a business that’s fake, to me. Because I AM my business.
Today, if you go to my Instagram you’ll see a lot of my life – my lifestyle. It’s just me. A real human being who has a few drinks, who exercises, who lives in a place she LOVES!
I like running my business from home. I don’t like working for others. I need to be near the water to stay sane. And I choose everything via my own authentic guidance – my own intuition, my own inner voice.
You’ll see my lifestyle because that’s what I want to teach – how to be authentic to yourself, to be an entrepreneur who interested in making a LIFE not just a whole stack of money (though you can still do that!) Because being an entrepreneur IS a lifestyle. It’s about sitting here on a Sunday afternoon, in the sun, with a bit of a hangover, and writing a blog post because my intuition guided me to.
I don’t really care what’s authentic to YOU personally. If you drink, run, do yoga, sell cars, write books, teach people, help people, support people… it’s just about who you are and what you can do to become a better version of that person so that you can sustain the lifestyle you can create if you follow a few simple rules. IF you’re willing… ;-)
